RE: Laptop MOD-2 hard drives?

The laptop is a 2004. Real antique, as computers go. I could buy a whole new laptop with 2 built in HDDs but $1500 is a no go. Your right. I meant 40 pins. I changed it in red above.

Laptop MOD-2 hard drives?

As soon as the UPS man arrives I will then have 2 hard drives for my Toshiba Satellite A75 S206. 1 HDD is going bad slowly, so I ordered a new faster one to replace it. SOOOOOOO, (I use this laptop as a desktop PC):C Since the Hard drive plugs are so easy to access in the laptop I was thinking of getting a long IDE 40-pin extension cable with 3 connectors, so I can run a master and a slave and plug in into the laptop. One for Linux and one for XP. Anyone tried this or see any draw backs?:h This is National Experiment with your laptop day.:B

RE: internet search engines that work?

First-No Internet Explorer- Costly. Second- Firefox- free Third- popup Blocker- Free Fourth- "Noscript" free to download You want to talk about ads? How about the ads they are running at the bottom of your tv screen that can cover an important view while watching a movie.

RE: No Credit/Debit Cards=No Business

If a store say cash only then report them to the Infernal Revenue Dis-service. Means they are cheating our beloved leader.:W If you are worried about being spy upon, then it means that you have something to hide. :B If they say "cash Only"I leave. If they say "Minimum Purchase" I leave.

RE: get so much done, new cell phone law in CA (video link)

I just remembered the best one I saw. Waiting at a light in Anaheim just down from the Hilton at harbor Blvd I looked down (driving tour coach) at a girl in a red Lamborghini and she was snorting a line of Coke. Then, she took off so fast that the red paint started to peel back. If you own a funeral home then you must love cellphone users in cars, judging from the video.

RE: Reputable on line hardware site?

Newwegg had it. I love Newegg. Hitachi 80gig 5400rpm hdd plus the transfer mount kit.Added another Intellimouse for my Linx box so it doesn't feel left out. 80gig is big enough because I use a WD 160 gig USB external for storage. the 5400 rpm will be a big boost over my 4200 I now have. Ok UPS man, I waiting.

RE: computer crash

It was embedded in the song files. Never file share. Amazon ok, reputable web site ok, but never from some dude you never heard of. I made the same mistake when opening a Youtube video once, but AVG antivirus caught it and held it while I cut it's little head off. Oh yeah. I wish they would run ads on the tv everyday to show people what NOT to do on their PC.

RE: problem:PC has no sound

free Radcal You might want to run Free Belarc Advisor This will describe everything in your system and makes it easier to tell people about your system. Another one is SIW Standalone. Left column, 2nd line down. This one will give you an unbelievable amount of info on your system. Everything you ever wanted to know, but were afraid to ask. And NO, it doesn't send your information to anyone either, as was once stated.

RE: problem:PC has no sound

You might run SFC. "System File Checker". This is from "Ask Leo.com" To run the system file checker press Start, Run, and then type in SFC followed by its options. The most common usage of SFC is this: "SFC /scannow" This might help. I have similar trouble periodically with my Toshiba Satellite. For me, A restart won't fix it, but a cold reboot makes it work. Check out this article too.

RE: For the men & ladies… Men wearing kilts?

Thought this would be fun. Saw a show this morning on the military channel about a crew recreating an ancient 5 story assault tower on wheels. It was hard, labor intensive work in a hot climate and one guy on the crew wore a utility kilt and he loved it. I thought it was cool (literally!) and practical. Told my wife, mom and sister about it and they just looked at me funny. Then my niece & dd joked about getting me a “skirt” when they got home from shopping with my mom & sister… No respect I tell ya… :B For the men; would you wear a utility kilt for work if it was more comfortable and practical than conventional work shorts & tool belt pouches? http://www.utilikilts.com/images/products/kilts/workmans_lg.jpg For the ladies; what’s your opinion about a man wearing a kilt while laboring? If it was indeed more comfortable I’d wear one! Ok, now slide across that 6x6 beam will ya.:B Can you say SPLINTERS!

RE: Reputable on line hardware site?

In many cases the $49.95 jobs are 'Pulls" where they have been removed from use or new laptops for scavenging. After a search I found a Hitachi 80gig 5400rpm ATA-100 for around $80, plus I'll add a Acronis transfer kit and that will let me use the old one as a backup, although it has a bad block. The bad block may make a transfer not work if it is in something valuable. It's about time I do a re-install anyway. Gots gots of junk.

RE: Need Info re Hurricanes

I rely on this site for up to date, practically up to the second, reports and satellite views. I can watch a storm when it approaches. Also clicking on the top where it says Tropical/hurricane and then read the posts by Dr Jeff Masters ,you can read a very accurate description of what is going on and what to expect. I swear by his predictions. try it out.

RE: Reputable on line hardware site?

Thanks a heap. I saw so many names that sounded kinda strange while searching and wasn't quite sure. I'll check your list and the Liquid drive sounds kinky.

RE: Fuel Rants & Raves - Post 'Em Here!

Some interview on an (Alleged) news report yesterday said that, there will be a 50 cent drop in the price of gasoline at the pump in 2 months and the barrel price will be dropping to between $60 and $80. I think it was the "Headline News Chanel", dubius at best. As for the drill now-drill here-drill what ever, even if we were to start suppling our own oil tomorrow, the prices would stay just about the same. They would find a good reason for it. I want to thank the Moderators for giving us this thread. It really relieves the pressure better then Exlax in a Mexican resturant.

Reputable on line hardware site?

Not counting Ebay, where have you had good success ording hardware? I'm going to need a Hitachi IC25N060ATMR04 hard drive for my Toshiba Stellite A75. I like Newegg, but they don't sell it. I seen some Etailers, but they have either rediculously low or high prices that run from $49 to $155. Any sugestions?

RE: GM's days of "Built in America" are numbered

My DW and I always wondered why they never advertised the Malibu Maxx heavily. It has a great chassis, 200 Horsepower, 220 lbs of torque and great MPG up to 38 highway.. It almost looked like they were trying to lose business. We've grown to love Plastic. And small vise Grips are a great substitute for the broken rear seat reclining release lever.Plastic around a splined metal shaft. At 67, I will be buried with this one. 28 mpg hwy tops not 38 mpg. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a21/jogiba/Album%20number%203/2007MalibuMaxx.jpg Oh dear, I forgot to say that is a 2005 model and 38 is what the on board systems says. We paid $13000 for it too. So the newer models are getting worse MPG then 2005?:B Those MPG quotes from different sources are all different so I prefer my real world specks. And I'm really sick of this "World Market" stuff. The World Market is eating us alive and we're just taking it.
